JDF 1801 — the Instructions for Completing an Income Assignment — has a new version. The Colorado Judicial Branch published an updated PDF dated February 2026, replacing the previous version from July 2023. That’s nearly three years between revisions.

The new PDF lives at 2026-02/JDF1801.pdf on coloradojudicial.gov. The old path (2023-07/JDF1801.pdf) is no longer the current version. If you bookmarked or saved the instructions before this update, the document you’re referencing is outdated.

What JDF 1801 Covers

JDF 1801 is not a form you fill out and file. It’s an instructions document — a guide to completing income assignment paperwork. Income assignments (sometimes called income withholding orders) are the standard mechanism Colorado courts use to enforce child support and maintenance payments. When a support order is entered, the court typically issues an income assignment directing the paying parent’s employer to withhold support directly from wages.

The instructions walk through how to complete the income assignment form, including which employer information is needed, how to specify the withholding amount, and what federal requirements apply. JDF 1801 also governs the instruction links for JDF 84 (Notice to Terminate Income Assignment), which points to this same document.

What Changed in the February 2026 Revision

We want to be upfront about the limits of what we’ve confirmed here. The memo that flagged this revision identified the new PDF path and confirmed the date change from July 2023 to February 2026. The specific content differences between the two versions — whether the Judicial Branch updated statutory references, changed procedural steps, revised federal form requirements, or simply reformatted — have not been individually cataloged in the official Forms Blotter. The April 2026 Blotter (published April 1, 2026) didn’t list JDF 1801 among that month’s changes, which suggests the revision predated the current blotter reporting cycle.

A three-year gap between revisions makes it reasonable to expect some substantive changes. Federal income withholding requirements have been updated during that period, and Colorado’s own statutory framework for support enforcement (C.R.S. § 14-14-111 and related sections) may have seen amendments. But we haven’t done a line-by-line comparison of the two PDFs, and the Judicial Branch hasn’t published a changelog.

What we can confirm: the February 2026 PDF is now the current version, and the July 2023 version is no longer linked from the form’s page on coloradojudicial.gov.

Who This Affects

Income assignments are part of nearly every child support order in Colorado, but parents don’t typically fill out the income assignment forms themselves. The court or the county child support enforcement unit usually handles the income assignment paperwork. JDF 1801’s instructions are more relevant for attorneys, employers processing withholding orders, and self-represented parties who are handling the enforcement process directly.

That said, if you’re a parent working through a child support modification and your case involves changing the income assignment amount — or if you’re terminating an income assignment because the support obligation has ended — the instructions in JDF 1801 are the reference document for how that process works. Having the current version matters.

How We Found This

GoFile’s April 22, 2026 monitoring cycle identified the JDF 1801 revision while checking individual form pages against the self-help forms index. The new PDF path was confirmed on coloradojudicial.gov. A follow-up check during our May 24, 2026 cycle also caught that JDF 84’s instructions URL had still been pointing to the old July 2023 version — that URL correction is covered in our May 2026 monthly roundup.
