Colorado’s family law self-help forms change — sometimes because the legislature rewrites a statute, sometimes because a filing fee gets corrected, and sometimes because the Judicial Branch quietly fixes a broken link. These changes don’t follow a fixed schedule, and the Judicial Branch doesn’t send individual notices to parents who are mid-filing.

That matters. Filing a motion with an outdated form version can mean a rejected filing at the clerk’s window. Using old fee amounts means showing up at the courthouse with the wrong check. And relying on a discontinued worksheet means running calculations the court no longer recognizes.

GoFile monitors the Colorado Judicial Branch self-help forms index and the monthly Forms Blotter on a regular cycle. When something changes with a tracked family law form, we publish a post explaining what happened, what it affects, and what (if anything) parents working with those forms need to do differently. This page is the index for all of those updates.

Recent Updates

April and May 2026 saw the most significant set of changes since GoFile started tracking. HB 25-1159 — the Child Support Commission Recommendations act — drove the discontinuation of two child support worksheets and the renaming of a third. A separate revision corrected a filing fee error in the parenting time instructions. And a routine spot-check caught a stale URL on an income assignment form.

Here’s what we’ve published, newest first:

Colorado Family Law Forms Update — May 2026 — Monthly roundup covering the JDF 84 instructions URL correction. Confirmed all other tracked forms unchanged for May 2026.

JDF 1406i Parenting Time Instructions Revised: Response Filing Fee Corrected to $146 — The April 2026 revision of JDF 1406 i corrected the response filing fee from $116 to $146. Affects anyone filing a response to a parenting time modification motion.

JDF 1820 Discontinued and JDF 1821 Renamed Under HB 25-1159 — Child Support Worksheet A (JDF 1820) is gone. Worksheet B (JDF 1821) was renamed to “Support Worksheet” and is now the single unified worksheet for all custody arrangements. JDF 1822 (Child Support Guidelines) was also discontinued.

JDF 1801 Income Assignment Instructions Updated: February 2026 Revision — The income assignment instructions received their first update since July 2023.

How We Monitor

GoFile checks the Colorado Judicial Branch self-help forms index and individual form pages on a regular cycle. We also review each month’s Forms Blotter — a PDF the Judicial Branch publishes listing that month’s form changes across all case types. When a change affects a tracked family law form, we verify it against the original source (the form page, the blotter, and any cited legislation) before publishing.

Our monitoring covers form revisions, fee corrections, discontinuations, URL corrections, and instruction document updates. We also confirm which forms didn’t change — every update post includes a “confirmed unchanged” list so parents can see what was checked and when.

Not every change gets its own post. Major changes — discontinued forms, fee corrections, legislative-driven revisions — get standalone coverage. Minor corrections like URL fixes are batched into monthly roundups. Months where nothing changes for tracked family law forms still get a short roundup confirming that status.

What We Don’t Track

This index covers self-help family law forms related to child support modifications, parenting time modifications, and maintenance modifications. We don’t track forms for initial divorce proceedings, adoption, protection orders, or non-family case types. We also don’t track county-specific local forms — only statewide JDF forms published by the Colorado Judicial Branch.

For the forms themselves, the official source is the Colorado Judicial Branch self-help forms page at coloradojudicial.gov/self-help-forms. For general information on modifying existing court orders, the Judicial Branch maintains a change court orders page with its own form routing guidance.
